The passage chosen for this exegetical paper is Mark 14:1-11 where Jesus is anointed by a woman followed by Judas agreeing to betray Jesus. This paper will look the different pieces of context for this passage and look to establish the theological theme of Jesus as the Suffering Messiah.
This paper will discuss the role of the Bishop inside the Roman Catholic Church. Bishops are a key position of leadership in the largest Christian body in the world that has endured centuries of different climates and circumstances. To do that, this paper will look at three topics in regard to this office. Firstly, we will discuss how the office of the Bishop came about via Apostolic succession. Secondly, we will discuss the role Bishops play as a single collegial unit. Thirdly, we will discuss the role of Bishops inside the local church.
This passage is a turning point of not only in Joseph’s life, but also in the book of Genesis. In this passage, we see the offspring of Abraham demonstrate how wicked humanity can be and the depravity of even God’s supposed chosen people. However this passage, like all parts of the Old Testament and Bible, should never be read in isolation.
